The goal of The Rescue Vets is to make the adoption process as smooth as possible for both animals and owners. Our simple process ensures rescues are matched to their ideal homes, creating harmony and happiness for all.

Our online application kicks off the process and helps us match animals and owners based on specific needs and compatibility.
Once approved, schedule a meet-and-greet between you, your rescue, and all the members of your home, including current dogs (cats can stay home).
Sign our contract, pay the fee, and now you’re ready to bring home your furry friend! Find ongoing support with our educational resources.
We do require that our adopters live within a 20 mile drive to our location. As a full service veterinary clinic, this allows us the opportunity to provide any future veterinary care your new pet may need, including routine care, overnight boarding, and grooming services.
Please note that completing the application does not guarantee an adoption. It is common for animals to receive multiple inquiries, and our goal is to place pets with owners who can best accommodate the animal’s specific needs.
We do not place pets on hold; all pets remain available until adopted. We reserve the right to conduct a home visit prior to finalizing any adoption.
In order to ensure the animal will feel comfortable in your home, you must bring all members of your household, including children and/or grandparents. If you are adopting a dog and currently have another dog at home, the two dogs must meet and get along prior to adoption. Your current dog must be up to date on all wellness exams and vaccines, and must be spayed or neutered.
We do not adopt pets as gifts or surprises. Every resident of the home must come in to meet the pet, with every resident in agreement to the adoption. Multiple appointments are available to accommodate busy schedules.

To finalize an adoption, owners must read and sign our Adoption Contract.
We will also make a copy of your photo ID for our records.
Newly adopted dogs must have a leash and collar with tag containing contact information prior to leaving the building. Newly adopted cats must be placed in a cat carrier for transport home.
Adult dogs are required to go home with 12 months of Heartworm Prevention. This is an additional cost and not part of the adoption fee. Flea and Tick prevention is also available for purchase. (The requirements for puppies will vary depending on age.)
